@Pasto  - May 6, 2010, 5:12 p.m.

Hello, my friend told me that Guitar Rig 4 is best program for play guitar on pc . . .

Is that true or there is a better program for do that ?

There are tons of programs for guitarists :

Guitar Pro, Power Tab Editor, TuxGuitar, etc, but I honestly can't say which one is the best.

Guitar Rig is different type of program than Guitar Pro or TuxGuitar. TuxGuitar and GuitarPro are for opening/playing/writing tabs. Guitar Rig is kind of computer amp that can be used in place of real guitar amp with electric or bass guitar connected to pc.

Guitar Rig is nice. I heard also about soft called Amplitube, but never used it.

I haven't used it, so I'm not really qualified to say what's best. But in addition to Guitar Rig, there's quite a few others (cab, head, or both). The commercial (non-free) ones I know about are Guitar Rig, Amplitube, Overloud TH1, Ampfarm, etc. ReCabinet is also non-free, but it's really cheap.

Check out these free ones, if you don't want to spend money or pirate stuff:

You need both a head (distortion / tone shaping EQ etc.) and a cab sim (to simulate the speaker). I have a preamp pedal that acts like the head, so I just use IR's to simulate cabs, which you can find for free as well. I believe Amplitube/Guitar Rig/Ampfarm/Overloud all do both. ReCabinet is just an IR library, which you could use with Boogex.
