Which CMS you are using here in this website?

@MGadAllah  - March 22, 2008, 10:35 a.m.

Hi

I'd like to ask which CMS you are using here for this website?

Reason I am asking because I am about to launch my educational website which will be dedicated for discussing professional designations in fields of finance, accounting, auditing, and any business related designations.

I've been googling for such a thing and what I've found so far that there are 3 CMSs that are really considering great, they are : Drupal, Joomla, TYPO3.

I will use latest phpbb3 version for the forum, and need to use some cms to post news, comments, ..etc and such stuff on the home page.

I've readed many comparisons for the 3 mentioned above CMSs and summery was if you want a good architecture with a good SEO out of the box and a reliable CMS, you can choose drupal or typo3 and if you want as we are saying a fast sell just go for joomla because it has a great 3rd party integration.

I've tried drupal and did tried the module to integrate phpbb3 with it but was not completely successfully, and has some bugs and errors and support from the Russian guy was not that great, so I've gaved up.

Now I've did tried Joomla with phpbb3 and do feel that drupal is better and reviews were right about it.

for typo3 i did not found any info about integrating latest typo3 with latest phpbb3.

So here in the current website where we are I've seen a nice portal that I hope to use such a thing beside there is a forum integration or a bridge.

So please may you tell me how you did it and what is this portal.

Thanks and much appreciated.

Hi. This site runs off Drupal and uses the phpbb module for the forum integration http://groups.drupal.org/phpbb. It has worked great so far. The guy who maintains the module doesn't use the CVS though, so you won't find the module on the normal Drupal modules listing page.

IMO there's nothing better than Drupal. It definitely does have superior architecture and SEO capabilities and has scalability that no other CMS can match. There is a steep learning curve, but I still suggest you try it out.

Thanks for your reply mate, I do like and consider using drupal for the website, I've got three ebook for drupal (Apress.Building.Online.Communities.with.Drupal.phpBB.and.WordPress.2006.pdf - Apress.Pro.Drupal.Development.Apr.2007.pdf - Drupal 5 Themes.pdf) and start to read them to get a better idea and every time while I go further I feel that drupal is the way to go.

Actually the module I've tried so far was phpBB3 forum Integration module by the Russian guy VB, and I've tried it more then once and posted there and contacted him several times trying to clearing some uncleared issues in the provided instructions to install the module correctly but it seems that he is busy or something a like, and it is in the drupal here. and just today I've discovered that there is another module enable the integration for Drupal and phpbb3 here, and I guess that you are using this one, right!?

But I've posted there asking about an integration for the latest drupal 6.1 with the latest phpbb3.0.0 and the answer by arkepp was that it is not updated yet to the latest versions because guys working on it are busy with work and family (really working on a website or a forum consumed a lot of time and require a lot of work).

So please tell me which drupal - phpbb versions you are using here in this website, is it Drupal 5.5 and phpBB 3.0 as mentioned in the group home page? because the old release I've found on the download page for Drupal project was 5.7,

so did you faced any troubles during installing or using it or does any members complained from any thing at all in the website or forum?

I am sorry if i was a bit chatty or disturbing but really the situation that I am searching since three days and posting in different places and you are the only one who replied and the guy from the group also.

So I hope to get just a little bit help, and believe me I am not lazy guy or searching for someone to do the install or integration for me and I want to do it myself but just want a little help to know the way or right instructions.

Thanks for your time and do appreciate your help mate.

Best regards.

Yep I'm using that module here. It isn't quite ready for Drupal 6 yet, though it will work on any Drupal 5 version. I'm using Drupal 5.5 and phpBB 3.0.0.

It would probably be in your best interest to stick with Drupal 5 for now though, since Drupal 6 just came out and a lot of the main modules that you'll probably be using like Views and CCK are not upgraded to Drupal 6 yet. Once they do come out though you can just upgrade to Drupal 6 very easily. The upgrade process in Drupal is very very simple compared to other CMS's.

The phpbb module is kind of hard to install and configure but if you follow the instructions exactly you should have no problem. Plus the support for it is great. Good luck.

Really too much thankful for your fast reply mate. Does Drupal 5.7 will work smoothly the same way as 5.5? because I can not find Drupal 5.5 in the download page.

Thanks

Yeah any Drupal 5 version will work the same. I just haven't upgraded in awhile. You should go with the latest version.

Hello mate.

I've followed instructions but it seems that it is a bit advanced to me in some aspects. Is it possible if you could help me with doing the installation . I've tried several times so far since yesterday, but it seems that I can not finish it the right way. Is it possible to just have a few minutes using any messenger to help me with it.
