The roland cube is good, but I think that Strange Jam is right.

Agreed with StrangeJam—unless you're playing gigs or practicing with others, an amp isn't the best bang for your buck at this price.
Some of the better tube amps sound incredible, but if it's a $200 solid-state/modeling amp being considered, you're better off with a digital interface that takes up less space and is more versatile.
It also makes it easier to do/learn recording, production, et c. when you have a direct input to your computer, so that's a bonus.
There's something to be said for having locked in on particular tone/settings you use frequently and making that part of your playing. It can be hard to resist constantly fiddling with a digital solution (or even cheapo modeling amps,) so some restraint is advisable.
If you do want an amp at that price, Roland Cube and Fender Mustang / Mustang II seem popular. I'm a fan of Vox stuff, so I'd recommend the Valvetronix (VT15 or VT20) for modeling amp or a Pathfinder 15 for less variables. There's also a tiny tube amp from Vox you could get for $200- the AC4TV.

Pathfinder is good
don't buy Marshall, it's unreliable (unless you feel lucky)
I would choose a modelisation amp (Line6, ...) or an interface, like Jam suggested, if you have decent monitors.

If you play at home mostly and want to be more flexible, buy a usb interface like the line 6 mentioned above.
If you want a good cheap actual amp, the Vox DA15 is great and is very portable.

given your budget and Bedroom usage mostly, I would not recommend an amp, I'd recommend an interface like the POD UX1 or the HD500. I rarely recommend amps to beginners these days, why?
because these interfaces produce better sounds than any of them, have more versatility, and they will be far more useful even in the short run due to other advantages which i'm lazy to list. (i'll make a list later.)
if you're curious as to how you can sound with an interface:

anyways I got stuff to do. I'll post moar later.
