It's jut the sound effect that makes it sound like it repeats a note.

If you play it with a little delay it sounds perfect. Scarily perfect. Amusingly enough I find the ideal delay time to be about 666 milliseconds.

i was curious as well, so i checked it out in widi and yeah, it's just an echo so that if each of richard's notes were quarter notes, the timing of the delay is quarter dotted (quarter + eighth). this makes it sound like 8th notes are being played (except the first of the section) when it's just quarter notes. a cool effect for a well made song. and a good tab too, thanks for this!
