Playing in the end credits of the game, it also was released as track no. 1 on the accompanying CD release Silent Hill 3 Original Soundtrack(s) that same year. This line was taken from the main theme and intro music of the first Silent Hill game. The mandolin was not even re-recorded or re-sampled and just copypasted into this song. As explained in my full transcript of that theme, it was actually created with a patch [Sound library: mando trem in Spectrasonics Hans Zimmer Guitars Vol. 2] and not played physically. My reasoning for transcribing all the notes on one course came from the sample's choppiness, as well as Yamaoka's 2014/15 tours for which Todd Jordan and Diego Reynoso were instructed to play the main theme in this positioning. But in Hometown, the mando only plays during the intro. The rest of the track then remains a re-imagination of said main theme as well, with different instrumentation. The song will have completely faded out by the 5 minute mark, but all OST prints then feature an additional minute of silence, resulting in the track running to 6 minutes and 4 seconds. This seems to have been an intentional choice. The lyrics and vocals were both provided by Joe Romersa, who shared singing duties with Mary Elizsabeth McGlynn on this OST. Mandolin transcript in GDae standard tuning.
