Released in 2003 for the PS2 with a later PC port, this track is not found in-game. But it's part of the accompanying Silent Hill 3: Original Soundtrack(s) as track no. 20. Almost every instrument used in Akira's music for the series is a sample patch, so what I believe to be the mandolin part most likely again is sampled. Since it falls into the range of the mando and my European flat/bowlback instruments do sound close to this, I notated it as such, though I understand that American ones may sound quite different. Alternatively, it could also be a Chinese guzheng or Japanese koto patch, or perhaps even a hammered dulcimer. The notes are plucked, either way. The segment consists of 6 bars, all of which is fully repeated once. Most of the track is composed of other patches, though. Mandolin transcript in GDae tuning. This is not to be mistaken with another theme from the OST, a different arrangement titled Rain Of Brass Petals (Three Voices Edit). Featuring the band Interlace, it has lyrics and vocals. There is also Rain Of Brass (Other Take) from the Extra Music CD of the 2011 Silent Hill Sounds Box collection. A shorter edit of this OST version, but lacking this sampled melody line.
