Note : Normally Part 1 is played 1 octave up ( the 2nd time ) but I simplified to a repeating,
Part 3 isn't accurate coz I just understood nothing there, & Part 4 is detuned to be playable

How to build an ATARI ST arr.
1. u need a rom of the game, use google to find it ;-)
2. u need Saint emulator

to create a chiptune file, lauch the game , then YM
record ON when music start, don't forget record OFF ,
u just ripped it -(^_^)-
3. Now u need a player called STSOUND

If you are lucky the melody track & bass track are
separate, so u can hear it separatly, select channel A,
B, & C ON/OFF as u wish ^^
Alternativly STSOUND can also create a Wav file , it's
usefull to play it in a music player including
looper/slower/detuner functions as AIMP or
RiffMaster Pro [http://www.aimp.ru/index.php?do=download]
4. Finally the best part, wrote note after note by
ear ^^ ofc a music editor can help a lot : Guitar pro 5,

it's just the second tab by ear, Oh u noticed it hehe well done, (first was http://www.gametabs.net/world-warcraft/deepwater) but u right : "by ear" it's a new way to explore C:
Now I feel FREE to explore any tune I want (no more need the support of a midi file or a score) ^^

Sure, I already start to work on a very slow song, and I m using a new method I imagined but never used before :
I lesson the melody to memorized it (no need to write it)
I find chords by ear
I seek the best tone for guitar (to ease the fingersteps)
Finally, the biggest part of the work : mix between chords and melody
I'm gonna test this new method, it seems efficient to me, isn't it ?

I like to start with the bassline. It gives the song structure, then I build on it :-)

bassline = structure ? oh interesting ! Do you speak about RYTHM structure ?
Btw As u are a bassist I want ask you :
do you think the note of the bass allways sync with the bass note chords ? I mean like that :
bass note -> chords
for ex: bass note : A -> chords : [A], or [Am], or [F/A], ... etc.
and do you think it's possible (not theorically but statistically) I can often find this case whare the notes are different :
bass note -> chords
for ex: bass note : A -> chords : [E], or [Dm], or [A/G], ... etc.
My point is I really hope bass note can help to find chords so I can use bass instuments note (bass guitar is often used for ost/pop music) to improve my needed chord recognizing, and that will be cool in this way :)

Whenever i sit down to tab a song i always use 'Transcribe!', its soo helpful and can slow down the song without loss of quality, as well as a function to display the notes it 'guesses' are in the spectrum at the point you select, (which is surprising accurate). But i read a lot of people say they start with the bass line first then come back and do the overlying melody, whereas i just tab everything from the get go lol, and build the tab in Guitar pro 6

Good method well this is just how I arranged this tab called "Main theme - Tetris", I used "riffmaster" instead your transribe! to slow down & detune a music from *.wav file, and writting notes in Guitar pro 5.
Your software decode notes ? ho ! you're lucky I guess it can help but not necessary usefull for me, I can hear notes most of time, but 4 notes or more at the same instant , a chord like that is ofc confusing (O_O)' then yep I ll can try this Trancribe! in this case.
Btw do you know a software who can find tempo variations inside a tune ? IS Transcribe! display the tempo ? I already do this work myself but it was a hell with a crap result so if I can find help ^^

You can use whatever software you want to slow stuff down. It's impossible to do it without losing quality, so there's always a tradeoff, and it's often worth listening at different speeds (and always worth listening at full speed).
It's also useful pitch shifting. For example, if you're having a lot of trouble hearing a bassline (like if it has a dark tone with few harmonics), you can pitch shift it up an octave to the range where your ears are more sensitive.
I've used the BPM detection in Logic a few times, but so far it hasn't really been worth it to try to use a program for that, at least for me...

Wow good idea coz I have often trouble with bass note, I never think this trick, I m gonna try it for the next song, Thank u very much it will usefull. The song I m arranging right now has no bassline just a piano lol, I think its a too slow song to have one, u prob know it : "You are my love" sung by 牧野由依 Makino Yui from 『ツバサ-RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-』 Tsubasa Chronicle. anyway Slow = easy = good to arrange :D
"BPM detection" ? I didn't know the term, usefull too ! Since tempo variations appear as the true enemies of the arranger, I need a weapon.. and the biggest I can carry ^^ Tomorow, I will use google to find a efficient "BPM detection" stuff ... I'm gonna sleep hopeful ^^

Just be careful--big changes will cause audible distortion. Always check anything you get from slowing down or transposing against the original!
Most piano pieces have bass notes, too ^^; Piano notes have a LOT of high harmonics, though, which give them their characteristic sound. You'll rarely be unable to make out a bass note on piano because those harmonics hit your ear in the range it's sensitive in, even down to the lowest A.

It explain why I love piano, I like harmonics ! I found a simple free tool for "bpm detection" : http://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm
It's manual and it doesn't memorize the value so it's a bit rought, but usuable with a looper, it's ok
There is a lot of this kind of "bpm tap" sofware for PC even for iphone, android... At first I thought it s a joke, but it works good ^^
If I can build a program i just add a memorize function or an "Output text" like this : " bar N° , bpm 1 , 60 2 , 59 3 , 62 .... "
but I didn't yet find a program like that, well I have to learn how program a PC myself ^^
Finally the best "bpm detector" it s us lol

You probably don't want to vary the tempo like that--keeping it at 60 the whole time would be better than 60, 59, 62...

We probably don't speak about the same device. I think u spoke about a Metronome but i didn't. I hate metronome, it s really too much discipline for me, but I will can tolerate a metronome which silence itselft 5 seconds after I start to play, not more ( to give me a brief information it's ok , but a repetitive information omg , it makes me wanna die) ... OR u meant "write only T=60 in your arrangment" coz minor variation of the tempo are just wrong measure.
I used it with ""You are my love" sung by 牧野由依 Makino Yui from 『ツバサ-RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-』 Tsubasa Chronicle." and the tempo is fixed at 68 value except 2 last bars, I'm so surprised, I thought bpm varies often, well it was probably different effects (volume variations or notes durations)

It it works so good !! let's try it ! listen a music u know the tempo, and tap the space bar on the beat, the value displayed is the tempo your brain & finger are able to measure. Isnt'it pretty cool ?
the value I obtained listenning a T=60 midi file are 60, 59, 62 because I'm a bad "tapper". Maybe a good one can obtain 60,60,60,60 but I doubt of it
I can see a lot of people listenning mp3 player in the street, some are tapper (generally by foot) in the subway, some are "shoulders movers" in the bus. People are used to be "bpm detector", they just don't display the bpm value :D
I'm a foot taper bpm detector I think. And you Auriplane, are u a street tapper ... a head mover ... or shoulders ? ^^
