what's a grace note?

Replying to:
@BluePhoenix what's a grace note?
A note of very small duration that is played quickly before another, main, note. Sometimes they're slid into the main note or sometines just hammered. It's a way to write it rather than having to write a really short note and then figure out what you have to turn the main note into to make the measure the proper number of beats. For example, say I had a quarter note, but I wanted to play another note and slide into the quarter note. If I were to write it normally I'd have to write the start of the slide as, say, a 16th note and then the main note would be a dotted eighth note. That's just confusing sometimes, so what the person will do is just write the main note, in this case a quarter note, and then have a very tiny little note next to it letting you know to play a grace note and what to play. It makes for a lot cleaner looking sheet music that's easier to read, which is the most important aspect of it.
It helps to actually SEE what it looks like as sheet music so download the tab and open the pdf file and on page 2, the second measure after the repeat sign with the harmonic in it you can see the way it looks. That should clear up any lingering confusion.
Well, that was a lengthy reply, heh.
