I can't speak for anyone else here, but I liked all the violence. I thought the talking got to a point where it was nonsense. The ideas were deep, don't get me wrong; but I didn't like all the pointlessness. They tried to make it sound so deep that it ended up sounding shallow, if that makes sense. ^_^;;

GitS was a pretty consistent, thought out show. I don't see how someone can think Eva is a masterpiece but find GitS to be pointless.

My guess would be despite them both being anime GitS has more western influence whereas Eva is more weeaboo pandering.

Why does everyone love gits so much ?
  1. It doesn't run for 500 episodes like the big anime series do

  2. It had a planned start and finish

  3. It's consistent, thematically honest, has clear direction.

  4. It's appealing to people who probably don't like anime that much (which is probably why some anime fans don't care for it)

I never said Eva was a masterpiece.(Although I did like the soundtrack) >.> I was just saying I liked it. I liked Ghost in the Shell too. I just wasn't too fond of the Tachikomas or all the references to out-of-body experiences. I can't relate to that. ^^;; I can relate more to not being popular, going insane, or one of the other underlying themes Eva had. To each their own, man. ^^

Edit: taking advantage of the topic, anyone here watched all Kara no Kyoukai movies?

Sure thing, they're awesome! The story itself isnt that great but ufotable are the best in presenting their work. If you watched fate/zero you'll know what I mean, it's just great to watch somehow.

Back to NGE, I didn't like it at first but after some time I rewatched it as a whole and came to love it somehow. Except EP 25+26, they suck.

^dat ufotable, one of the best movie series even if you're not a type-moon fan (enjoyed KnK more than F/Z here). Liked 1&3(fujino;A;)&5(loved the appartment's concept + touko gets lots of screen time) the most and didn't bother with the epilogue as it's just a conversation or something of the sort. Def worth a watch if you were wondering omnicide, unless you've brought up the title because you've seen it before.

+ost fit the show very well, even has some machinarium-like tracks.

yuki kajiura (xenosaga 2&3 or madoka/fatezero for people like sj so they can recognize her)

@lemon: mushishi is generally easy to watch (good flow, can tackle serious topics but you get the opportunity to think of it while watching since it's not an action movie) and pretty, but it still has one of the creepiest episodes related to babies in anime |:

now that you mention it, Hakoria, madoka is on my "want to watch" list(along with Redline, KnK, Hellsing, LotGH...)
