Greetings humans,
I got an email from a guy saying that the site graphics are too bright and a bit outdated.
He thinks it should look something a little more like this
What do you all think? Is he crazy in the coconut or does he have a good point? The options are as follows.
Keep the site the way it is.
Update the graphics as suggested above.
Update the site but do something completely different with it.
Go!

I just realize this site has never had a poll before...least, not that i know of. Let's have a poll feature/forum!
As for graphics. I don't know. I think it would be cool that the videos of recordings actually had their own column showing a picture, you know, like Youtube and other video sites.
The six latest stuffs section? Maybe we could get rid of the latest news heading...and the latest comments? Move the latest requests above "browse tabs" and put it in a similar box
do whatever. i dont mind any changes long as they aren't flashy
edit: and change that complete greenieness on the top/bottom and put a picture of something with tinted color

Though I think whatever the results of the poll are, it'll probably be fine. It's fun to discuss, but ultimately it's not the end of the world no matter what happens to ratings.

I think he is implying that an anonymous ratings system can be easily abused. I'm not typically one for harming the majority because of abuses by a minority. Abuses always happen, however, there are many very easy work-arounds to an anonymous voting system.
Voting multiple times using incredibly simple IP/proxy tools or hiding behind anonymity to "sabotage" others' tabs for various reasons are both issues I have dealt with as a mod. It is much easier to circumvent without anonymous voting. I wouldn't have caught the second example without IP information associated with user accounts, for example (the point being it still happens, but it can be remedied).
